In this 2014 policy brief, the Rennie Center explores high school equivalency (HSE)-plus programs; specifically, Massachusetts’ capacity to serve opportunity youth by taking a close look at HSE-plus programs in three communities, examining to what extent local programming reflects best practice, and identifying areas where more capacity must be built.

In this 2014 policy brief, the Rennie Center provides a first-of-its-kind baseline assessment of Massachusetts’ alternative education offerings. Research findings highlight existing alternative practices and examine how programming for the state’s at-risk students might be improved and better leveraged to guide broader, system-wide reform.

The Roadmap to Expanding Opportunity project looks at promising, evidence-based strategies to better support all kids in our Commonwealth. In this 2014 report, the Rennie Center focuses on programs that integrate classroom instruction and community-based learning into credit-bearing opportunities that occur within or outside of the school day.

In 2013, EdVestors released a report on the 2012 School on the Move winner, New Mission High School. Researched and written by the Rennie Center, this report identified New Mission’s efforts to build a culture of college success.
